GER McCARTHY REPORTS

GOALS from Darren Dennehy, Roy O'Donovan and former Bantry Bay Rovers underage starlet Connor Ellis earned Cork City the Dave Wigginton Memorial Cup at the expense of Skibbereen at the Baltimore Road on Saturday.

A bumper crowd, a magnificently prepared playing surface and the inclusion of former Manchester United midfielder Liam Miller helped make last Saturday's friendly an afternoon to remember for West Cork League club Skibbereen AFC.

Add to that the appearance of West Cork Schoolboys League graduates Connor Ellis and Mark Buckley in City's colours and the organisers of a superbly run event have every reason to be pleased with an entertaining afternoon enjoyed by all those in attendance.

Don’t miss next Thursday’s Southern Star for a full match report plus interviews with Cork City stars.
