Bantry boss admits worry after influential Deane picks up knee injury

BANTRY Blues boss Arthur Coakley admitted his worry after watching Cork inter-county player Ruairi Deane carried off the field with a knee injury in Friday night’s county PIFC round one loss (1-13 to 0-10) to Mallow in Newcestown.

Deane, who suffered a cruciate knee setback in the 2014 Munster final against Kerry, suffered the injury at the end of the third quarter against Mallow, and he had been playing very well up to that point, kicking 0-2.

‘It was Ruairi’s injury that finished us. He was phenomenal for us tonight and they found it very hard to cope with his surging runs. It really hurt us when he went off and now we’ll have to see how bad his knee injury is. It’s very worrying,’ said a concerned Arthur Coakley.
