Deserved honour for defender after impressive early-season performances

CORK City WFC’s Ciara McNamara has won the club’s Player of the Month trophy.

The versatile defender won player of the year last year at the club and has continued her consistent form for City with a series of composed displays on both the left side and heart of the defence in recent games.

Cork City WFC have partnered with Garry McCarthy Trophies of Tramore Road Cork to provide a Player of the Month trophy each month.

The Tramore Road-based trophy manufacturer is delighted to come on board for the season and only had positive words to say on the club: ‘We’re delighted to be working with Cork City WFC for the upcoming year. They’ve always been a club we’ve enjoyed good business with and we feel it’s important Cork gets represented on the national stage, especially in women’s sports.

‘It’s especially important to see a player of Ciara McNamara be rewarded for her outstanding form for the month and we’re pleased to be onboard as a sponsor. We’re looking forward to a long partnership and want to wish the club the best of luck for the upcoming season.’

The Leesiders face UCD Waves in their second game of the Continental Tyres Women’s National League season in Bishopstown Stadium on November 1st, having beaten Kilkenny 2-1 in Buckley Park last weekend to open their campaign with a victory.
