Bandon's Mark Sugrue and Clonakilty's Denis Murphy scoop top awards at Carbery GAA All-Stars

Inaugural 2015 Westlodge Hotel Carbery GAA Junior Football and Hurling All-Stars night is a massive success

BANDON ace Mark Sugrue was named 2015 Westlodge Hotel Carbery Junior Footballer of the Year at a gala awards ceremony in the Westlodge Hotel on Friday night, while Clonakilty’s Denis Murphy picked up the inaugural Carbery Junior Hurler of the Year award.

The very first Westlodge Hotel Carbery Junior Football and Hurling All-Stars awards night was a tremendous success, with GAA President Aogan Ó Fearghail the special guest on the night.

Adding great excitement to the occasion was the naming of the 2015 Westlodge Hotel Carbery Junior Football All-Stars team, with West Cork and county champions Bandon leading the way with eight players selected, while Kilmacabea (4), Kilmeen (1), Muintir Bhaire (1) and St Mary’s (1) all had footballers chosen on the All-Stars team.

The 2015 Westlodge Hotel Carbery Junior Football All-Stars team: Pat Prendergast (Bandon); Patrick O’Brien (Bandon), Niall Hayes (Kilmacabea), Eoghan O’Donovan (Bandon); Clive Sweetnam (Kilmacabea), Peter Murphy (Bandon), Ray Collins (Kilmeen); James Walsh (Bandon), Martin Collins (Kilmacabea); John Daly (St Mary’s), Frank Arundel (Muintir Bháire), Darren Crowley (Bandon); Mark Sugrue (Bandon), Barry Collins (Bandon), Richie O’Sullivan (Kilmacabea).

The 2015 Westlodge Hotel Carbery Junior Hurling All-Stars team also received their awards: Mark White (Clonakilty); Tom Collins (Dohenys), Pa O’Sullivan (Clonakilty), Gearóid O’Donovan (Diarmuid Ó Mathúna); Denis Murphy (Clonakilty), Patrick Crowley (Diarmuid O’Mathúna), David Lowney (Clonakilty); Alan Murphy (Clonakilty) and Jerry McCarthy (Dohenys); Sean O’Shea (St Colum’s), Sean White (Clonakilty), Conor O’Driscoll (St Oliver Plunkett’s); John Paul O’Callaghan (Diarmuid Ó Mathúna), Thomas Clancy (Clonakilty), Kevin O’Donovan (Diarmuid Ó Mathúna).
