Big movements at both ends of the Premier Division table

BALLYDEHOB’S 1-0 win against Spartak Mossgrove on Sunday morning had a big impact on either end of the WCL Premier Division table.

Joe Hickey’s eighth minute strike has seen Ballydehob keep their title challenge alive and they have hit top spot, leapfrogging Drinagh Rangers. The two teams meet in a potential title decider next weekend.

But this defeat relegates bottom side Spartak to the Championship for next season. They needed a win to advance to a play-off with the runner-up from the Championship.

Instead, Clonakilty Town, who have finished second from bottom in the Premier, still have a chance to avoid relegation to the Championship, as they will contest the play-off against Skibbereen who have emerged as runners-up in the Championship. The winners of Clon Town v Skibbereen will play in the Premier next season.
