GARDAÍ have arrested a woman and seized nearly €12,000 of suspected cannabis herb in Kinsale.
As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs, gardaí from the West Cork Divisional Drugs Unit stopped and searched a woman on Higher O’Connell Street on Saturday at around 5pm. During the search the woman was found to be in possession of €2,900 of cannabis herb.
The woman, aged in her 30s, was arrested and brought to Bandon Garda Station where she was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
As part of the investigation a follow-up search was carried out later that evening at a house in Kinsale. During the course of the search gardaí seized a further €8,300 of cannabis herb.
All of the suspected drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
The woman has since been charged and is due to appear before Bandon District Court on October 2nd.
