A NEW group has been set up to provide professional and personal support for West Cork people living in Dublin.

Called Dublin West Cork Network, it’s being set up by three friends and former students of St Fachtna’s in Skibbereen.

They are: Brian McCarthy, Caheragh; Sean Buckley, Castlehaven and Liam Hazel, Skibbereen.

Brian, property negotiator and valuer, moved to Dublin a year ago, while financier Sean and Liam, a chartered surveyor, have been in the capital for years.

The three meet for lunch every week and knowing of similar groups for Mayo, Kerry and Westmeath, they decided to set one up for West Cork. The first meeting takes place next Thursday, November 29th in Google HQ at 6.30pm.

It will feature a talk by Kingsley Aikins on the ‘Importance of Networking’ followed by a couch discussion entitled ‘Championing our People’ with West Cork’s Marie Davis, Google’s head of marketing solutions for Ireland, and Eoin Leonard of i3PT Certification.

Brian said they’ve had a hugely positive reaction so far, adding they will take feedback from the group on how they should develop. Everyone from graduates in need of mentoring to busy chief executives in need of a social outlet, are welcome, he said. Register for the event at [email protected]
