Two due in court in Bantry today on cannabis charges

GARDAÍ have executed a European Arrest Warrant on a man (30s) and a woman (20s) in relation to the seizure of cannabis herb and plants in Dunmanway in 2016.  

GARDAÍ have executed a European Arrest Warrant on a man (30s) and a woman (20s) in relation to the seizure of approximately €187,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb and cannabis plants in Dunmanway on January 18th 2016.  

In 2016, gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit in West Cork carried out a search at a house in Dunmanway, Co Cork and discovered a grow house containing €187,000 worth of cannabis herb and cannabis plants.

Four men and a woman were arrested and detained at Bandon and Bantry Garda stations and later released without charged for the preparation of a file for the DPP.  

Yesterday (March 13th) detectives from the Divisional Drugs Unit in West Cork executed a European Arrest Warrant on a man and a woman in Lisbon, Portugal.  

They have since been brought to Bandon Garda Station and are due to appear before Bantry District Court at 2pm today.  

Of the five suspects arrested, two are due in Bantry District Court at 2pm today and one has already appeared before the courts.

One European arrest warrant is still outstanding and there will be no prosecution against the final suspect.
