THE Southern Star and its printers Webprint in Cork were honoured with the top award for Regional Newspaper of the Year 2019 at the 42nd annual Irish Print Awards held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin last Friday night.

The black-tie gala ceremony is an opportunity for industry professionals to come together and celebrate the best in their industry and the awards aim to recognise the country’s best companies in the print and press sector.

The Star was up against fellow finalists The Clare Champion (also printed by Webprint) and the Ulster Herald (Interpress).

This is the second time in recent years that the award has been presented to Webprint for The Southern Star. It also won the award in 2016. It is further evidence of the paper’s strong and continuing commitment to a high standard in terms of print, design and the overall reader experience.
