THERE has been a great buzz in the West Cork town of Skibbereen this week, as the National Digital Week, hosted by the Ludgate Digital Hub continues.

Ludgate, launched earlier this year in the town, brings 1GB connectivity to the town, in connection with Siro – a joint venture between Vodafone and ESB.

The town has warmly welcomed the delegates from all over Ireland – and further afield – to listen to talks, demonstrations and network at the three-day conference.

The conference takes place as Siro announces that it has fully completed its rollout in Skibbereen, linking the town to its 100% Fibre-to-the-Building (FTTB) broadband network.

With 36,500 premises passed, Siro is Ireland’s largest FTTB operator and this milestone will see services available to an additional 1,500 homes and businesses in Skibbereen from broadband retailers later in the year.
