National award for Caroline and her happy hens' eggs

WEST Cork Eggs, run by Caroline Murphy, has been honoured with a prestigious business award. 

Caroline, originally from London and now based on her husband’s family farm between Leap and Rosscarbery, was awarded the Emerging New Business award at the Network Ireland National Businesswoman of the Year awards.

Caroline started out in 2009 and now has 3,000 ‘happy hens’ supplying free range eggs to a number of retail outlets including SuperValu. 

The annual awards celebrate the excellence, professionalism, vision and leadership of business women in Ireland. This year saw a record number of entries for the awards. Winners were selected at a regional level  before being put forward as finalists in the overall national awards in their respective categories. 

Highly commended in the Emerging New Business category was Clonakilty-based Karen O’Reilly’s Employmum. 

Established in 1983, Network Ireland has 1,000 members, with thirteen branches across Ireland. A volunteer-run network, an excess of 200 events are organised annually for like-minded people to come together to collaborate, share ideas, knowledge and support - most of which are free to members.
