AN INNISHANNON motorist who let things ‘run away with her’ and left her car insurance lapse has been convicted and fined €150 for driving without insurance.
Chloe Travers (22) of Keel, Innishannon pleaded guilty to driving without insurance at Bandon District Court.
Sgt Eimear O’Connell told Judge Joanne Carroll that at 12.35pm on October 22nd last Gda O’Reilly stopped a car being driven by the accused near Innishannon.

It emerged that her insurance had expired since July 2025 and she later obtained insurance at the roadside.
The court heard that she has no previous convictions.
Defence solicitor Éamonn Fleming said her client was more surprised than the garda when informed that her car insurance had expired.
‘She was in third level college at the time and was involved in a lot of charity work with the Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind and was moving house so things ran away from her,’ said Mr Fleming.
Judge Carroll said she understood that it was an oversight on Ms Traver’s part.
‘There is nothing I can do here and her insurance was out three months and there are no extenuating circumstance and I have to convict,’ said Judge Carroll who convicted and fined her €150 and gave her four months to pay the fine.
‘You cannot drive a car unless you are absolutely sure it’s insured,’ said the judge.
