WHEN it comes to being a ‘super’ fan of Daniel O’Donnell, distance is nothing for 23-year-old Molly Kate Sloyan from Kinsale, who flew in especially from Spain to attend the singer’s sold out concert in the INEC.
Molly’s reaction to a ‘fake’ Daniel O’Donnell on last February’s Late Late Show Valentine’s special went viral after her expression switched from delight to disgust when she realised that it wasn’t the real Daniel performing to the audience, but comedy impersonator Mario Rosenstock.
However, she finally did get to meet the ‘real’ Daniel after being personally invited to the concert, when he sent her a special video message after hearing about her reaction, which had garnered huge attention at that stage.
‘He was lovely and really down to earth and we had good banter,’ a delighted Molly Kate told The Southern Star.
‘The show was great and he is a great performer as well as a great person. It was heart warming to see how many elderly people, especially, that he brought such joy to, and you can tell he really cares a lot about his fans.’
