MINISTER for Social Protection Joan Burton is in West Cork today (Friday) with her colleague, Labour deputy Michael McCarthy.

She visited St Mary's National School Dunmanway with Operation Transformation leader Veronica Horgan earlier and they joined in some healthy exercises in the playground with the pupils.

Veronica is a past pupil of St Mary's and was a big hit with the students when the 'celebrity' arrived at the school.

Now an employee of South Western in Clonakilty, Veronica is well on target for her OT goals on the RTE programme, as our picture shows.

A Cycle Day takes place in the town tomorrow, at 10am, in conjunction with Cycling Ireland and Operation Transformation, led by Veronica, starting at the GAA grounds.
