A man in his early 50s has died in an accident in West Cork on Sunday afternoon while repairing the roof of a cow shed damaged in the recent storms.

He was named locally as Conor Lordan, a 52-year-old father of five from the Enniskeane area.

It is believed that Mr Lodran was on a teleporter repairing the roof of the shed on a farm at Kilgarriffe, near Clonakilty, when he fell from it around 1pm on Sunday.

His body was removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem examination took place.

The Health and Safety Authority and Gardaí are carrying out investigations into the accident.
