SIR – THE GAA has been shooting itself in the foot somewhat of late with the Liam Miller debacle another sorry episode.

SIR – THE GAA has been shooting itself in the foot somewhat of late with the Liam Miller debacle another sorry episode.

Liam Miller was a former GAA player before he became a superstar in soccer and represented his country on the international stage and also played for Cork City.

As a Corkman myself and an ardent follower of the GAA, I think we need to open the gates of Pairc Ui Chaoimh to a true Cork superhero who represented his county and his country very well indeed.

When you consider that Irish taxpayers contributed €30m to pay for the completion of that same stadium then we, as Cork people, should stand together and let this testimonial match for Liam Miller’s young wife and family go ahead.

It’s time to let the Cork County Board know the feelings of the rebel county on this injustice to one of our own. We should also name a club after him.
