WHEN Molly Kate Sloyan from Kinsale got tickets for Friday’s special dating themed Late Late Show, she never dreamed her disappointment at not seeing the ‘real’ Daniel O’Donnell would go viral.

Cameras caught her delight when host Ryan Tubridy announced that Daniel O’Donnell was to sing on the show, but it also caught her massive disappointment when Molly realised it wasn’t the Donegal singer at all, but impersonator Mario Rosenstock.

‘When Ryan said Daniel was coming on, I was delighted as I am bit of a fan of his, and I’ve been to his concerts with my grandparents before. My friend Aisling and myself had just been discussing who we would like to see on the show, and I had said it would be great if Daniel was on and the next thing he was on – or so I thought,’ Molly told The Southern Star.

‘I had no idea who Mario Rosenstock was, as I don’t watch much television, so I was really disappointed and confused about what was going on, and I had no idea the camera caught my reaction,’ joked Molly.

If that wasn’t bad enough for Molly, she then had to do a twirl with the ‘fake’ Daniel when he moved through the audience while singing. ‘That was pure luck that he came up to me and because I was sitting in the aisle seat he picked me to do a twirl with him.’

It was only later when they hit Dublin celebrity nightspot, Lillies Bordello, that they realised Molly’s reaction had gone viral and messages were coming in on their phones and people were coming up to her about it. Molly is hoping now that the ‘real’ wee Daniel might contact her.
