TWO juvenile males who were arrested on Tuesday in relation to a robbery involving two elderly ladies in Macroom last week have been released.

A file is now expected to be prepared for the DPP under the Juvenile Diversion Programme.

Gardaí arrested the two following a search operation after the two women, one in her 90s, were knocked to the ground while walking at Castlegrounds. One of the juveniles was brought to Macroom Garda Station for questioning, while the other was taken to Bandon Garda Station.

Shortly before 3pm last Tuesday both women were knocked to the ground by two males and had a handbag stolen. The duo left the scene via Macroom Golf Club and accessed the public road at Sleeven Upper. The woman in her 90s was brought to CUH with minor injuries and has since been discharged.

Gardaí have again renewed their appeal for witnesses and Supt Joe Moore is appealing to any drivers who may have had dashcam footage to contact gardaí in Macroom.
