BALLYDEHOB resident, actor Jeremy Irons, will take part in a discussion following a free screening of ground-breaking environmental documentary Trashed at UCC on Monday February 23.

The event, which runs from 2.15pm-4.30pm, is open to the public but tickets are required. Directed by British filmmaker Candida Brady and featuring Jeremy as investigator and guide, Trashed first premiered in a special screening at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.

The film, in which Jeremy explores the world’s most environmentally polluted places to reveal how the extent of our rubbish is affecting our planet and us, has since gone on to win numerous awards. Jeremy has been particularly vocal in his support of Cork Harbour Alliance for A Safe Environment (CHASE).

The event comes at a time when Cork harbour is now being perceived as a key asset of international importance.

The ticketed event takes place in Boole 1 Lecture Theatre on Monday 23 February from 2.15pm-4.30pm. Tickets are free of charge and are only available on a first come/first serve basis, directly from the UCC Visitors’ Centre, Stone Corridor, UCC (9.30am-5pm daily) or from the School of Biological Earth.
