Former Carbery boss named Bord Bia chairman

THE appointment of Rossmore man Dan MacSweeney is great news for the Irish agri-food sector.

That was the sentiment expressed by Senator Tim Lombard on hearing the news this week.

Mr MacSweeney was appointed chair of Bord Bia by the Minister for Agriculture Michael Creed on Friday.

Senator Lombard said: ‘Dan MacSweeney is a legend in the Irish dairy sector. He is a man of vast ability and experience. He led Carbery group to unprecedented success during his 25 years at the helm. He knows the agri-food sector through and through and is enormously well respected throughout the sector.’

‘The appointment of a man of his calibre is a major coup for the Irish food and drinks industry,’ the Fine Gael senator said.
