FIANNA Fáil members from the Bantry local Electoral Area will meet on Friday night to vote on who will take the seat which was held by Cllr Patrick Gerard Murphy, who died unexpectedly last September, writes Kieran O’Mahony.

The co-option will take place at the Maritime Hotel  at 7pm and two party members, former Cllr Danny Crowley and 2019 local election candidate George Gill, are putting their names forward.

Aiden McCarthy, chairman of the Comhairle Dáil Cheantair for Cork South West, said it will be poignant following the death of Patrick Gerard.
