THE second Drimoleague Singing Festival will return this month with well known names such as Glen Hansard, Cara O’Sullivan, and Ger Wolfe’s Big Sing which takes place on Sunday afternoon.
Running from Thursday, September 20th to Sunday, 23rd the festival features the best in contemporary and traditional singing with concerts being staged in five different venues in the village. As well as formal concerts, the festival will include singing and song writing workshops and informal open singing sessions all weekend. Other confirmed acts include Scullion, the Cork Garda Male Choir, Lisa O’Neill, Sean Tyrell, Brigid Mae Power, Don Stiffe, Katell Keineg, Seamus Begley and Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh.
The final of the local pub singing competition will open the festival on Thursday while on Friday it’s the turn of Scullion.
Saturday is a busy day including a singing workshop and a lunchtime concert by Sean Tyrell and the already sold-out solo gig by Glen Hansard.
Sunday night’s closing concert will feature soprano Cara O’Sullivan and tenor Peter Stobart. In addition, the Singing Trail will return this year.
