THE RELICS of St. Carlo Acutis arrived in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Skibbereen last week for a special mass.
The first-class relics were escorted to the church with a Garda escort on Friday, May 29th.
Huge crowds attended the special mass, which began with a procession of the artifacts led by altar servers, local clergy and Bishop Fintan Gavin.

(Photo; Anne Minihane.)His relics, which include a piece of his pericardium, the fibrous membrane that encloses the heart and blood vessels, are currently on a tour of Ireland.
The Skibbereen mass was the only West Cork visit for the artefacts.
Carlo Acutis was canonized by Pope Leo XIV in September 2025 and is recognised as the first millennial saint.
He was just 15 when he died in 2006, and was known as ‘God’s influencer’ for using modern technology and the internet to spread the Catholic faith.
