Credit Union members get access to full-service current accounts

MEMBERS of Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union will become the first in West Cork to avail of a new current account with a Mastercard debit card.

The new service includes the globally accepted Mastercard Debit Card with contactless payments, automated regular payments using standing orders and direct debits, and the option of an overdraft, subject to credit status.

Elma Casey, chief executive of Skibbereen and Bandon Credit Union, described it as ‘a watershed moment in the credit union’s history.’

‘It means we can now provide full day to day banking to our members,’ she said.

Credit Unions have been voted the most trusted financial institution for many years, and this position is one the Credit Union wants to build on with this new service launch. We envisage many members switching their day to day banking to the credit union because we are now a community-owned viable alternative,’ said Elma.
