THE Wild Atlantic Way signage for a spur to the village of Courtmacsherry will be in place within two weeks, Fáilte Ireland has confirmed.

The scenic village, home to one of the oldest lifeboat stations in Ireland, was promised the signage last month. It is believed there were issues regarding the location of the WAW ‘discovery point’ signs and a location close to the site of the new Courtmacsherry Rowing Club is now likely to be favoured.

The Seven Heads Tourism group have been lobbying for five years to have the area added to the WAW and while they welcome the Courtmacsherry spur, they still want the entire route that follows the natural coastline to be included on the WAW.

Recently, representatives of Fáilte Ireland engaged with several communities throughout West Cork in relation to developing a Visitor Experience Development Plan for the Haven Coast, which includes the Seven Heads Peninsula. That report is still awaited.
