GEN Z and Millennials lead the way in short breaks abroad – but Cork is a top destination for Baby Boomers who prefer a longer stay and are choosing to holiday closer to home.

The latest travel trends survey from Airbnb shows that Cork and Sligo are preferred locations for the older generation who choose to slow down and explore at leisure.

Slow tourism and staycations have been growing in popularity and the West Cork coastline provides the perfect backdrop, the new data reflects.

Visitors can truly experience local rhythms, support local economies and avoid jam-packed itineraries by taking trips at a slower pace.

Gen Z searches on Airbnb show strong demand for international travel with Marrkesh in Morocco and South Kuta, Bali proving popular.

Millennials are showing the strongest appetite for breaks closer to home, with coastal favourites Galway and Kerry tops.

Baby Boomers – typically born between 1946 and 1964 – are booking longer breaks with Cork leading the location list. With a variety of accommodation, including Skibbereen’s award-winning Cottages for Couples, on offer there’s no shortage of options.

Overseas favourites for Baby Boomers include Lanzarote.
