'Clonakilty is a class apart,' was the comment of one of the judges in this year's Window Box and Hanging Basket competition in the West Cork town.

‘CLONAKILTY is a class apart,' was the comment of one of the judges in this year's Window Box and Hanging Basket competition in the West Cork town.

Breda Crowley, praising the townspeople for their efforts and hard work, said the creative combination of colours and textures, together with the obvious care of so many of the displays, were a tribute to those involved.

Breda recently returned from Barbados where she was one of the judges at the WAFA World Festival of Flowers.

Back in Clonakilty, she praised DeBarra's on Pearse Street which was declared Best Overall and Mount Carmel (Clonakilty District Hospital) which will be the recipient of a Special Recognition award.

Roni Collins, on behalf of the sponsors, thanked Mrs Crowley for her meticulous attention to detail while paying tribute to all those whose beautiful displays adorn the town year after year. The prizegiving will take place at a later date.
