CLONAKILTY Chamber of Commerce has a newly appointed ‘Destination Co-ordinator' to spread the word nationally, and internationally about what the award-winning town has to offer.

Mick Hanly, former chairperson of Clonakilty Chamber of Tourism, and former administrator of the  Chamber of Commerce when it was set up in 2010, is settling into the role which he described as a ‘help desk with a personal touch' for both locals and visitors.

Proprietor of Glendine Irish Home guest accommodation in the town, Mick said he was looking forward to ‘profiling Clonakilty as a seriously up and coming, vibrant and pro-active modern town.'

‘I've lived in this wonderful little town for the past 24 years and it never ceases to amaze me how pretty and attractive it gets each and every year. I've reared my own family in this town and I would sincerely hope that we continue to embellish the magic that we have, for our future generations,' he added.

Chairperson of the business organisation, Cllr Christopher O'Sullivan said they had been considering such a role in the town for some time.

‘We needed to streamline a number of functions and have them all co-ordinated from a central point.

‘Mick brings a lot of experience from both the hospitality sector and an administration background.

‘His main areas of responsibility will be administration, social media, website maintenance and marketing.'
