THE roadworks in Clonakilty this week revealed a surprise on Pearse St when workers exposed old bridges for culverts that were used hundreds of years ago, writes Kieran O’Mahony.
‘This will add to the narrative of Clonakilty,’ said local historian Tomás Tuipéar. ‘It is the last opportunity for our generation to see what lies underneath our streets. It’s all about piecing the jigsaw together to see how our town developed down through the years,’ he added. It’s not expected to delay the drainage works.
