THE Caheragh Macra team of Dan Collins, Patrick Houlihan and David Murphy, mentored by 2013 Macra Young Farmer of the Year John Buckley of Aughaville, won the 2016 FBD Farm Skills final at Tullamore Show on Sunday 14th.

The lads showed skill, strength and determination and their hard work paid off. Much praise and gratitude went to John Buckley for his guidance and support of the team throughout the year. His dedication to the club is outstanding.

‘It is a great honour for both the club and the region for a national title to be coming back to Carbery,’ said club PRO Mary Anne Collins. ‘Well done lads!’

Meanwhile, over the August bank holiday weekend, Mary Sheehan of Clonakility Macra represented Carbery Macra region in the ‘Ms Macra’ national finals. A great weekend was had by those who travelled to support Mary, who did a great job representing the region.

Also over the holiday weekend, Kilmeen Macra and the Kilmeen Development Association held a ‘Know Your Neighbour’ barbecue and social gathering. A great night was had with music and food.

Then, on August 6th, Caheragh Macra held a ‘Know Your Neighbour’ night with live music at the O’Donovan Rossa GAA Pavilion. The proceeds of the night went to the Ricky Barrett Fund.
