A BEARA fisherman has been sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
Flor Murphy, solicitor, appeared on behalf of Gary Feeley of Adrgroom, Beara, at a recent sitting of Bantry District Court. Gda Dave Harman said the DPP had made its direction in the case and that the book of evidence had been served on the accused.
Judge Joanne Carroll read out each of the five charges.

It is alleged that on January 2nd 2024, the accused had on board a boat, with the intention of fishing for salmon, a drift net contrary to salmon fishery protection legislation.
On the same date, it is alleged that he did take, or fish, for salmon or trout with a net.
The third charge alleged that he had in his possession 34 salmon unlawfully captured.
The fourth charge alleged that he used a boat as an aid in the commission of an offence; and the fifth specified that he used a motor vehicle at Pulleen Pier in Gour in the commission of the same offences.
