Following strong south westerly winds and tidal conditions last night the pontoon at Barleycove Beach was damaged

CORK County Council has confirmed that the pontoon at Barleycove Beach has been closed.

This closure follows strong south westerly winds and tidal conditions last night, which saw the middle section  and left the pontoon severely damaged.

'The mooring chains on the eastetly side have been damaged and several broken. The connections on the modules have cracked. The pontoon has been closed and there is no access to the main beack from the car park until further notice,' said a Council spokesperson.

'Access to Barleycove Beach is via the Barleycove Beach Hotel only. We ask everyone to be responsible when parking in this area by not blocking any entrances or emergency access points.'
