A GROUP of 5th year students from Coláiste Pobail Bheanntrái are planning a sponsored fast and campout on Thursday night, November 26th, to raise awareness about homeless in the local area for Focus Ireland.

The 20 Leaving Cert vocational programme students will spend 12 hours in tents on the Bantry’s Square to gain an insight into the daily life of a homeless person.

The students will also be participating in a sponsored fast and there will be collection points throughout the town with all funds going directly to Focus Ireland.

There are roughly 5,000 people sleeping rough in Ireland every night, and another 100,000 on social housing waiting lists throughout Ireland.

The students will be on the Square from 8am till 8pm on the day.
