PEOPLE with ideas for projects that would benefit the community can now apply for funding under the Bantry Community Fund.

The fund was established in July 2022 to assist projects that would enhance the area, or be of benefit to its citizens.

With €310,000 in the fund, consideration can be given to projects of all shapes and sizes provided they are located within the parish of Kilmocomogue, aka Bantry.

The money – which was amassed through the sale of community property – is administered by a management committee.

And the members of this committee would like to see the money being put to good use.

In the past, some of the Bantry Community Fund was used to support two highly proactive community proposals, namely the Bantry Marine Centre and the Sports Community Hub.

To apply, interested parties should submit their name, address and contact details, as well as a brief description of the project, remembering to outline its title and location.

A single sheet application will suffice because each project will be subjected to a formal application process.

Following that, there will be a rigorous assessment against a set criterion, and all funding decisions will be solely at the discretion of the management committee.

The closing date for receipt of expressions of interest will be Friday 24th October, and no expressions received after that date will be considered.

The management committee acknowledges that it is a sizeable amount of money to be spent for the benefit of the community, and that it can be allocated to one or more projects, this year, or in the foreseeable future.

All of the submissions that have been emailed to [email protected] on or before Friday October 24th will be considered.

Anyone who would prefer to apply by letter can send it to The Secretary, Bantry Community Fund, c/o Rowex Ltd, Newtown, Bantry, P75 V009.
