WEST Cork’s top sprinter, Phil Healy, has been blown away by the global media coverage she has received this week.

The Ballineen athlete (21) has become an internet sensation after an incredible video of her heroics for UCC in the 4x100m final at the Irish Universities Track and Field Championships last Saturday went viral this week.

Running the last leg of the relay, and over 100m behind the leader, Healy, making the impossible possible, catapulted UCC from fifth place to an unbelievable last-gasp victory – and this video has been viewed over 500,000 times and counting.

‘It’s gone crazy. I’ve never experienced anything like this before,’ Phil said.

She has been interviewed by The Washington Post, as well as making headlines as far away as America, Australia and New Zealand.
