DARINA Allen, one of the founding members of the farmers’ markets movement in Ireland, was in Schull on Sunday for the first country market of the season.
The market, which is held in a car park overlooking the harbour, is one of Ireland’s most picturesque. Last Sunday it celebrated its 15th year in operation.
Among the well-wishers visiting the market on the day was Ian Bailey who last week lost his high profile case for wrongful arrest and conspiracy, against the State. Mr Bailey, who was holding a puppy for our photograph, was seen extending his hand to locals and visitors alike, as some wished him well for the future.
His partner, Jules Thomas, who still has a case for wrongful arrest pending, was manning her artwork stall as Mr Bailey mingled with the crowd. He was also seen shaking hands with many people at Skibbereen Farmers’ Market the previous day.
