SCHULL resident Ian Bailey has been arrested this morning on foot of a European Arrest Warrant, for the voluntary homicide of Sophie Toscan du Plantier in West Cork in 1996.

Mr Bailey was arrested at the Criminal Courts of Justice in Dublin after the European Arrest Warrant issued by French authorities was endorsed by the High Court in Ireland.

Mr Bailey was subsequently remanded on bail of €15,000 and Mr Bailey must now remain at his current address at The Prairie, Liscaha, Scull, and surrender his passport.

On Friday, April 7th, the court will hear submissions from the French authorities.

French authorities want Mr Bailey to attend the trial in France for the alleged voluntary homicide of Ms Toscan du Plantier in December 1996. But the trial may still go ahead in his absence.
