A COURT has heard that directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) are still outstanding in relation to a Bantry man charged with a major drugs seizure in the town.
The accused, Ronan O’Sullivan (45) of 4 Slip Heights, Bantry has been remanded on continuing bail to appear at court again on June 25th when the direction from the DPP will be given.
He is charged with the possession of suspected cocaine at his home on March 3rd last and the possession of suspected cocaine for sale or supply.

Sgt Trish O’Sullivan told the court that the substance which was seized by Det Gda Andrew Manning at the accused’s home has yet to be analysed.
Mr O’Sullivan was granted bail on the condition that he continue to reside at 4, Slip Heights and sign-on at Bantry Garda Stationevery Monday and Friday between 9am and 8pm.
Judge Joanne Carroll instructed the accused to keep his mobile phone on, and charged, so he can be contactable at all times by gardaí.
She ordered him to surrender his passport.
In addition, Ronan O’Sullivan is to abide by a curfew between the hours of 10pm and 6am, have no association with drugs and commit no offence.
When the case was previously called at the district court, Sgt O’Sullivan said the DPP had directed that charges, relating to two separate events, are to proceed in the district court.
One of these incidents relates to a search at the accused’s home on April 4th 2023, and a prosecution by Det Gda Shannon Ryan for simple possession of cocaine; and possession of cocaine for the purpose of sale or supply.
Gda Shannon Ryan was also involved in a search at Ronan O’Sullivan’s home on November 5th 2024 and filing charges for simple possession of cocaine; and possession of cocaine for sale or supply.
Colette McCarthy, solicitor, made an application to Judge Carroll for free legal aid stating that her client is in receipt of social welfare and social housing.
Judge Carroll granted her application.
