A DOCUMENTARY screening and poetry reading from a new book, A Shared Wonder Of Light, will take place in Newman’s West in Schull at 4pm on Saturday May 28th during the Fastnet Film Festival.

The documentary, directed by John Kennedy, tells the story of this great collaboration between the Australian poet, John Kinsella, and Schull-based photographer, John D’Alton, and their unique representation of West Cork and Kerry landscapes.

Those who love the outdoors will find the interaction of these two different perspectives illuminating, and for those who live locally it presents West Cork in a new light.

Through many years of photographing West Cork, John D’Alton has worked to capture its moods, while John Kinsella, who lives for part of the year in Mizen, has called upon his Irish famine-migrant heritage as one possible reconnection with place. The book will be formally launched in Anna B’s Bookshop in Schull at 6pm on Saturday June 4th.
