In second place at this year’s Castletownbere GAA’s annual Poc Fada were Oisin O’Sullivan, Charlie Hannigan, and Luke McNeil. Oran Quirke, Ruairi O’Donovan, Matt Murphy, Eddie O'Sullivan and Eoin McCarthy, Bantry Blues players celebrating their year of football at the Carbery U13 Academy Awards night which was held recently at the Westlodge Hotel. The players were presented with training tops by Cork minor captain Cathal McCarthy on the night.

Jay Cornish, Ciarán Seawright, Maarten La Haye, Steve G, Simon Allen, Tadhg Myler and Will Donaldson, with the Badger Sauna at the Snave Pier Christmas Day swim.

The adult winning team in the inaugural Bantry Blues Poc Fada event comprised Seanie O’Leary, Connie O’Leary and Jimmy O’Leary.

The winning U16 team in the Poc Fada comprised Eoin McCarthy, Killian O’Sullivan and Shane Cronin.

Members of West Cork Vintage Club recently presented a cheque for €6,000 to West Cork Palliative Care as a tribute to former member Seán O’Neill at the Brewery Bar in Clonakilty. The money was collected from three vintage runs which the club organised in the past few months. Included are Eibhlís and Sinéad O’Neill, Pauline Farr (West Cork Palliative Care) and West Cork Vintage Club members Fachtna O’Callaghan, Ger Buckley, Pat Joe O’Donovan and Michael McCarthy.

Some of the swimmers who braved the elements on Christmas Day to take part in the annual Christmas Day swim in Schull.

Winter Solstice market raffle winner Kate Kelly from Goleen sitting among her mountain of goodies. Kate thanked all the Schull traders for their generosity as her prize had the most amazing selection of gifts.

Part of the film cast of Sister Act in the Courceys Goes to Hollywood event at their recent pre-Toy Show film at the Ballinspittle Community Centre were Natasha McLoughlin, Sharon Quinn, Mary Lordan, Lorraine O'Mahony, Teresa Nolan, Annette O'Donoghue and Noreen Quinn.

Over 50 young gymnasts took part in a the Christmas Showcase with the youngest being just three-years-old and the oldest, fourteen. The gymnasts each performed a routine for their parents, family and supporters and each participate received a medal. There were seven trophy award winners for each session. Overall, it was an outstanding display of gymnastics, with everyone coming together to celebrate their achievements from the past year.

A turkey run donation of €2,680 was presented to West Cork Rapid Response in Rosscarbery from the Rocky Road Men's Shed’s motorcycle outing. From left: Betty Hennessy, Kate Crowley, Daithí Wright and Liam Slattery. To date Daithí and his crew have contributed over €10k to WCRR, which is very much appreciated.

Students from Mount Saint Michael in Rosscarbery are heading to the RDS for this year's Stripe Young Scientist Exhibition. A total of 13 students with four projects are going.

Conor Harrington was awarded Player of the Tournament at the Christmas seven-a-side that was played at Church Cross as a fundraiser for Aughadown Senior Citizens.

Road bowlers from Newcestown, Béal na Bláth and Templemartin before the fundraising score from Newcestown to Béal na Bláth last Saturday. A sum of €600 was raised for a local charity.
