Food festival call to capture the best of West Cork in 90 seconds

ASPIRING filmmakers are invited to promote the best of West Cork in a 90-second film that could win them €2,000.

As part of this year's A Taste of West Cork food festival, a short film competition dedicated to promoting the vibrancy and charm of the region will take place.

Organisers are calling on people to submit original videos / films in one of three categories: food and food producers; culture, music and pubs or sea; landscape and adventure.

Helen Collins, chairperson of A Taste of West Cork, which runs from September 8th to 17th, said: ‘Short 90-second videos are the perfect medium for communicating the wonders of West Cork to a large audience in an easy, accessible format. We are looking for filmmakers who are up to the challenge of creating an impactful message in just a minute and a half. The aim is simple: promote West Cork.'

Judges are Oscar-winning film producer Lord David Puttnam, Dee Forbes, Director General of RTÉ, and Dr Mary Jane Boland of Atticus Education.

Prizes are impressive – €2,000 for first place, €1,000 for second and €500 for third. The prize purse is sponsored by Drimoleague native Sean O'Driscoll, president of Glen Dimplex, and his wife, Rose.

Films that have previously been shown in other competitions cannot take part.
