CARBERY Rangers are up to second in Division 1 of the county football league after winning their third game in a row.
Their latest win was away to county champions St Finbarr’s, 2-16 to 2-9. This was also the Barrs’ first defeat of the Division 1 campaign.
Ross, who now sit in second place behind Clonakilty, led 1-8 to 0-5 at half-time with Darragh Hayes hitting the net. The city side were inspired by Cillian Myers-Murray who struck 2-6 but a Conor Twomey goal late on sealed an impressive victory.

Hayes (1-6), Paul Hodnett (0-4), John O’Brien (0-3), John O’Rourke, Keelan Scannell and Aaron O’Brien (0-1 each) were the scorers that guided Rangers to the win.
Elsewhere in Division 1, Nemo Rangers ended a three-game losing streak by seeing off Éire Óg, 1-19 to 1-15. Ross Corkery (0-6), Dara O’Sullivan (0-5) and Conor Horgan (0-4) starred for Nemo. Douglas picked up a victory over Knocknagree, 2-12 to 0-16.
Dohenys are still unbeaten in Division 2 but they got their third draw in four games after a late Cian Ahern score earned Ballincollig a point, 0-16 to 2-10. Fionn Herlihy and Sean Murphy (penalty) scored the goals for the Dunmanway club. Euan Lehane (0-3), Aaron Mannix, Paudie Crowley (0-2 each), Keith White, Gavin Farr and Shane Barry (0-1 each) were also on target. For Ballincollig, Dara Dorgan (0-9) top scored.
League leaders Uibh Laoire were goal hungry against Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh, racking up a 6-10 to 0-15 win. Adrian O’Dea, Ian Jones, Oisín Herlihy, Jack Sweeney, Conor O’Leary and Brian Cronin all scored majors. Valley Rovers got their first win of the season beating St Michael’s 2-11 to 1-6.
In Division 3, Bandon rose up to sixth by beating Fermoy 1-16 to 0-9 on Tuesday night. It was just the Lilywhites' second win of the season.
Elsewhere, Gabriel Rangers had their second victory in Division 4 as they beat Boherbue 2-20 to 0-16. Chris Moynihan, Lorcan O’Brien, Eddie Goggin, Killian O’Sullivan, Milan Vearnacombe, Sean Kelleher, Keith O’Driscoll, Paddy O’Driscoll, Luka Bowen and Gearoid Coughlan all scored for Rangers. Adrigole suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of Macroom, 1-15 to 1-11.
Bantry Blues sit joint-top of Division 5 but were denied a win by a goal-heavy Millstreet team, 0-21 to 4-9. Bantry are just one of two teams to be unbeaten so far The other joint leaders are Ballinora and Mitchelstown. The latter saw off Kinsale 1-16 to 2-11.
Ilen Rovers picked up their third win of the season by beating St Vincent’s 0-13 to 0-8. Kyle O’Sullivan top scored for Rovers with 0-5 while Adrian O’Driscoll, Denis O’Driscoll (0-2 each), Aidan Fahy, Conor Harrington, Micheal Sheehy and Paddy Collins (0-1 each) also contributed.
Kilmacabea are back to winning ways after seeing off Glanworth 1-12 to 1-9. John Keating scored the decisive goal for the Kilmacs. Argideen Rangers continued their winless run with a 1-12 to 1-8 defeat to Glenville.
Cullen kept pace at the top with a 1-15 to 2-12 draw against Dromtarriffe while Cobh and Kildorrery beat Aghinagh and Na Piarsaigh.
Carbery Rangers’ seconds and St James remain in the top two in Division 7. Rangers beat Donoughmore 1-11 to 0-10 to remain unbeaten. Jack O’Regan top scored with 0-5 and Kieran Fitzpatrick got the goal. Paul Shanahan, Eoghan Hayes (0-2 each), James Fitzpatrick and Jerry McCarthy (0-1 each) were the other scorers.
St James comfortably beat Castlemagner 4-16 to 0-9. Seán Whelton was immense for the Ardfield club with 2-6. Aaron Hayes (1-2), Ian Evans (0-4), Liam Dooley (1-1), James O’Driscoll (0-2) and Mark Evans (0-1) chipped in too.
