AN all-West Cork LGFA Cork Credit Unions Junior A county final between Bantry Blues and Dohenys should attract a large attendance to Aughaville on Saturday.

Bantry and Dohenys will face off for the trophy following impressive runs to this year’s decider.

The Dunmanway club defeated Douglas, Erin’s Own, Rockbán and Donoughmore in their first four championship matches.

Bantry recovered from losing their opening game to Douglas and won three on the bounce before facing Dohenys in last weekend’s final round of group fixtures.

Sarah Bishop and Eve Murphy goals proved crucial in a 2-5 to 0-5 Bantry win to set up Saturday’s all-West Cork decider.

The Dunmanway club lost last year’s Junior A final to Midleton and will be desperate to finally move up to the intermediate grade after so many close calls in recent years.

A cracking game awaits, with Dohenys’ Claire Hurley, Michelle Duggan, Melissa Duggan, Abby McCarthy and Michelle Love likely to pay important roles.

The Blues will look to Eve Murphy, Sarah Bishop, Ann Coakley and Laura Dempsey for inspiration.

Clonakilty’s hopes of joining O’Donovan Rossa in the Senior B county final were dashed by Glanmire at the Pike, Sallybrook last Sunday.

The Brewery Town began as underdogs but managed to rebound from a seven-point deficit at one stage to trail by four (1-7 to 1-3) at the short whistle.

Glanmire moved up through the gears in the second period, however, matching their first-half total and keeping Clonakilty scoreless to win 2-14 to 1-3.

Despite the defeat, Sinéad O’Donovan (1-0), Katie O’Driscoll (0-2) and Siofra Pattwell (0-1) were on target for the West Cork side.

Evie Twomey and Orlaith Roche top scored for the winners with 1-1 apiece. Glanmire’s other scorers included Ríona Crowley, Niamh McAllen and Aishling McAllen.

Castlehaven retained their Cork LGFA senior status thanks to a comprehensive 6-10 to 1-5 relegation playoff victory over Bride Rovers last Friday evening.

MTU Cork was the venue for a playoff in which the Haven found the net three times in the opening half.

Castlehaven added three more green flags after the break to run out convincing 6-10 to 1-5 winners. Niamh O Sullivan (2-1), Amy McCarthy (1-4), Gráinne O’Sullivan (1-3), Ellen Connolly (1-2) and Noreen O’Sullivan (1-0) were on target for the winners.

As a result, Bride Rovers will drop down to the intermediate grade for 2026.

Aghada and Éire Óg will contest the Senior A county final for the second year in a row.

Reigning champions Aghada were thankful for Róisín Phelan (two, on penalty), Mary Leahy and Kaitlin Smith goals in a 4-10 to 1-9 semi-final victory over Mourneabbey.

Emma Cleary netted Éire Óg’s goal in a 1-16 to 1-7 win over St Val’s in Ovens. Ciara McCarthy notched 1-5 in reply for Val’s but it wasn’t enough to prevent the winners from qualifying for a fifth consecutive county final.

Rosscarbery received a walkover from Valley Rovers in the Cork LGFA intermediate county championship last weekend. It mattered little as Naomh Abán and Midleton had already qualified for this year’s county decider.

Ross finished a creditable third in the final standings.

Bandon and Lisgoold’s final scheduled Cork LGFA Junior C championship meeting was voided as both clubs have qualified for the grade’s county decider.

Elsewhere in the JCFC, Beara gave a walkover to third placed St Peter’s while Courcey Rovers lost 4-12 to 3-8 at Dromtarriffe.

Ilen Rovers were not in Junior D county action this weekend but are still in the hunt for a county final berth with one round of fixtures remaining.

Ballincollig lead the group on 12 points with second placed Ilen Rovers, St Finbarr’s and Ballinhassig level on 10 points apiece. Ilen Rovers host a winless Youghal this weekend.

Keelnameela lost their final Junior G county championship game 6-10 to 2-5 at home to a powerful county final-bound Na Piarsaigh. Aoife McCarthy, Meadhbh Coomey and Sinead Mears scored for the West Cork side.
