A WEST Cork teenager will be the envy of all his schoolmates early next month.

Cameron Blair (16), from Ballinascarthy, will lead the Ireland and Italy teams out onto the pitch in front of 50,000 supporters for their crunch Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool D clash at the Olympic Stadium in London on Sunday, October 4th.

This is a dream come true for the rugby-mad Bandon Grammar School student, who was one of two winners in the Emirates Rugby World Cup 2015 Flag Bearer competition.

‘This really is an opportunity of a lifetime and I never dreamt that I would win such an amazing prize,’ a thrilled Cameron said.

‘I have been playing rugby for Bandon Rugby Club for over seven years and also play for my school, Bandon Grammar School. One of my favourite players is Robbie Henshaw and it’s brilliant that he’s made the squad this year. I can’t wait to see him play for Ireland at Rugby World Cup.’

Considering Ireland got off to such a good start with the commanding win against Canada in their group opener last weekend, hopes are high of a long Irish run in this World Cup – and a West Cork teenager wil play his part in the journey.
