SKIBBEREEN duo Shane O’Driscoll and Mark O’Donovan have qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s lightweight pair by winning their repechage at the World Rowing Championships in Aiguebelette in France this morning.
This was a very tight race, until the halfway point where Ireland took control and accelerated into the lead with only the Czech Republic, which finished second, testing them. Three crews qualified from this race to progress to the A/B semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Skibbereen’s Denise Walsh finished fourth in her repechage of the lightweight single sculls and will compete in the C/D semi-finals on Thursday afternoon.
