Six Cork footballers named on Division 1 team of the league

SIX Cork footballers have been selected on the 2021 Lidl Ladies National Football League Division 1 team of the league.

Runners-up Cork lead the way with six players picked on the Division 1 team, winners Dublin are next up with five players, while there are four slots for semi-finalists Donegal.

In total, there are five survivors from the 2019 selection, with the Cork trio of Shauna Kelly, Dohenys’ Melissa Duggan and Kinsale forward Orla Finn included again in the 2021 team, along with Dublin’s Martha Byrne and Donegal’s Karen Guthrie.

Rising Macroom star Erika O’Shea, Mourneabbey stalwart Ciara O’Sullivan and Kinsale hot-shot Sadhbh O’Leary are the other Cork players who earn spots on the team this time.

Also, Cork forward Orla Finn, as well as being named on the team of the league, has been voted the PwC GPA Women's Football Player of the Month for June.
