Rugby at Schull Community College has undergone something of a revival in the past two seasons under manager Davoren Leung, which makes this fantastic achievement all the more significant.

The team received a walkover in the first round against Pobal Scoil na Trionoide of Youghal to reach the quarter-final. They travelled to Killorglin where they soundly defeated Killorglin Intermediate School 43-7.

They had a tougher challenge against Charleville CBS in the semi-final, scraping a one-point victory in a tight game that finished 20-19.

In Bandon last Wednesday, captain Asa Curran lifted the Giles Shield, the first ever silverware for rugby at Schull Community College in the school’s 35-year history.
