Four Skibb rowers in action in Glasgow on Sunday

NOT happy with winning silver at the European Rowing Championships in Glasgow earlier today, Paul O’Donovan is already looking towards next month’s world championship.

The O’Donovan brothers, Gary and Paul, finished second in the A final of the lightweight double sculls on Sunday morning, to bring home silver. Norway took gold in a time of 6:20.85, ahead of the Skibbereen Rowing Club stars in 6:22.84 with Italy earning the bronze.

‘I'm a little but disappointed with silver but we know the Norwegians are pretty good. The main focus for the year now will be the World Championships,’ Paul told RTÉ afterwards.

‘There's a lot to do over the next few weeks but that will provide some motivation at least.’

Earlier, Denise Walsh and Aoife Casey finished second in the B final of the women’s lightweight double sculls for an eighth place overall finish, an excellent result for the Skibb duo.
