Ccounty champions from Cork, Clare, Kerry and Wateford paraded their cultural talents in the presence of a large and enthusiastic attendance. Cork teams, carrying a strong representation from West Cork, fared exceptionally well in the keen competition for a place in the provincial finals early next month.

Shannon Buttimer of Sam Maguires emerged strongly in the demanding recitation category. Cork’s successful innings continued for a harmonic Carbery Rangers ballad group of Orlagh O’Gorman, Rachel Hodnett, Kate Creedon, Aoife McSweeney and Joan O’Donovan.

Rounding off a rewarding outing for Cork was success for St James’ in the production class from a line-up featuring Sinéad O’Donovan, Ciara Hodnett, Laura Hodnett, Méabh Barry, Aaron O’Donovan, Darragh O’Leary and Joseph O’Sullivan.

Elsewhere, Boherbue emerged in both the figure and set-dancing disciplines while Kilshannig ticked the required boxes to advance at instrumental music and Maggie Moynihan from Cullen enjoyed success in solo singing.

The triumphant Cork representatives go forward to the Munster Scór na nÓg Finals, back in Ovens, on Sunday, January 7th at 2pm.
