NOEL Magnier launched his acclaimed publication, ‘Mick Barry, The Bowlplayer of all time,’ at the Corner Bar, Skibbereen, on Wednesday, October 19th.

‘Mick Barry stands alone at the pinnacle of bowling greatness, his achievements and presence draping six decades of the sport’ are Noel’s appropriate words that set the tone for a hugely enjoyable read and the author was the recipient of warm tributes for putting in place a detailed record of the sporting giant.

MC for the evening, Christy Santry, spoke of the value of such work and acknowledged the presence of so many in the audience who had been very much part of the Barry era. The role of The Southern Star in highlighting the career of Mick Barry through its publication of Flor Crowley’s detailed reports was also acknowledged.

The attendance included Sean Mahon, MD, Southern Star; Con Downing, editor; Joe Carroll, MCC; John Sexton, Courtmacsherry, Southern Star correspondent and long-time Barry admirer, and Denis Crowley of The Clubhouse, another long-time associate of Mick Barry.
